Young Palestinian Gets Shot in Settler Attack in West Bank
Moheeb Jibril, aged 19, was killed by gunfire from an illegal settler in the town of Tuqu’, located southeast of Bethlehem, according to a statement released by the Palestinian Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission, a governmental institution.
Eyewitnesses stated that an Israeli settler exited his car and began shooting at Jibril, resulting in his death and leaving another young Palestinian critically injured.
Jibril became the second Palestinian to be killed in Tuqu’ within a 24-hour period. The previous incident occurred on Monday evening, when Israeli troops shot and killed a Palestinian teenager during a military incursion into the town.
This latest killing raised the total number of Palestinians slain by illegal settlers this year to 15, while the overall figure since the outbreak of the Israeli war on Gaza in October 2023 has climbed to 37.
Based on Palestinian data, Israeli forces and illegal settlers have killed no fewer than 1,097 Palestinians across the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, wounded close to 11,000 others, and arrested approximately 21,000 individuals since October 2023.
In a significant ruling issued last July, the International Court of Justice ruled that Israel’s occupation of Palestinian land is unlawful and urged the removal of all settlements from the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
